Collaboration is the ability to work with peers in a group setting. Collaboration is not new for us at Old Mill Elementary.You may recognize collaboration in the layout of our classrooms, with the projects our students participate in, or in the games our students play at recess. Collaboration is an important part of everything we do here at school.

 

Collaboration is a critical competency, essential to thriving in an interconnected and interdependent global context. According to  Erkens, Schimmer, and Vagle, teamwork and collaborative problem solving are among the most frequently mentioned 21st century skills learners need to thrive in their future endeavors. Employers and policymakers point to the importance of teamwork and collaboration skills in the current and future workplace. We let our students know that the things we are doing now are preparing us for our futures and among those is collaboration.
